PLAY String Quartet and Bassoon
What a gorgeous photo of the PLAY String Quartet and bassoonist, Simon Ball. The photo was taken at the wedding of Leendert and Amy Botha, hosted at Molenvliet Estate last year.
You are probably wondering why a strange instrument like a bassoon was added to the string quartet? Well, simple answer: it was requested! The couple’s chosen song “Book of Love” was especially arrange for string quartet and bassoon, and used as the entrance song of the bride. It was beautiful!
To make the day even more special: a short instrumental piece, dedicated to the couple, was composed by Jan-Hendrik Harley and that was played by the quartet during the ring exchange. What a special moment it was! The quartet will be recording the piece soon and I will be sure to share it. *watch this space*
The wedding ceremony was also live streamed via ‘vimeo’ to all the friends and family abroad who could not join the celebration in South Africa.
